The Organisation
Climate Integrate is Japan’s independent non-profit climate policy think tank and was established in 2022 by the internationally recognized climate expert, Dr. Kimiko Hirata. With a mission to accelerate decarbonization within society, business, and the public sector in Japan and globally, Climate Integrate conducts research, governance, and diplomacy in Japan, providing insights and information to support multi-stakeholders’ global efforts to decarbonize.
Dr. Hirata was awarded the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize and was selected as one of the BBC’s Top 100 Women in 2022 for her work to phase-out Japanese coal and for her advocacy for sustainable finance in Japan. Climate Integrate has a high-profile board of directors and advisors and has recently released several high-impact research papers in collaboration with global climate think tanks. Dr. Hirata has identified three fundamental gaps within Japan’s climate action, an ecosystem gap, an information gap, and a transition gap. Climate Integrate works to fill these gaps by expanding the ecosystem of organisations and partners to address the energy transition.
