The Organisation
  
With a vision of a just and thriving Asia powered by renewable energy, Tara Climate Foundation is a new and rapidly expanding philanthropic initiative focusing on South, Southeast, and East Asia (excluding China and India). The Tara Climate Foundation is headquartered in Singapore with a team spread throughout the region.
  
Tara plays three main roles: providing grants to a diverse group of climate and energy transition partners; developing and assessing regional finance strategies; and the convening of partners within and across borders. Tara has more than a dozen International philanthropic funders supporting its work including the provision of grants to hundreds of civil society and research organizations, thinktanks, non-state actors, and the private sector to accelerate a just and clean energy transition.
  
By 2026, Tara strives to double its funding and grant making to combat climate change in this decisive decade.

The Role
  
Reporting to Tara’s Senior Finance Strategist, this role will help shift Asian financial markets and investments out of fossil fuels by identifying the levers to accelerate Asia’s clean energy transition. Tara’s finance program supports a broad range of stakeholders across the region, delivering advocacy campaigns, analysis and engagement focused on shifting key public and private financial institutions, central banks, governments, regulators, and investors.
  
Key responsibilities;
  • Contribute your knowledge and experience of the financial sector to support the strategic thinking on the financial sector in South, Southeast and East Asia
  • Expand and maintain a regional network of financial experts, analysts, not-for-profits, think tanks, regulators, and financial institutions
  • Provide organisational updates on developments in the financial sector and markets
  • Help expand grant portfolio including evaluation and reporting
  • Support the development, coordination and implementation of grant making strategies
  • Shape priorities and provide feedback to grantees and partners
  • Work with colleagues to embed regional finance priorities
  • Attend international and regional finance forums and meetings

Skills Required

  
With a broad knowledge on trends and levers that drive private and public finance investment you have developed your career in economics, finance, regulation, policy, and/or sustainable finance in the Asia region and you are keen to apply your expertise in the fight against climate change.
  
With the ability to see the bigger picture you understand the key strategies that can be applied by the financial sector, institutions, networks, and players to inform the clean energy transition. You also offer the following;
  • +5-7 years’ work experience in the financial sector
  • The ability to interpret complex data
  • Capacity to work flexibly at a fast pace in remote settings
  • Experience working with multicultural teams across multiple time-zones
  • The motivation to embraces Tara’s mission and values
  • Ability to travel as and when required; fluency in an Asia language would be an asset
