The Role

Reporting to the Communication Director you will deliver powerful storytelling content that inspires people to take action for climate justice, elevates the voices of young mob and support campaigns across social media platforms, through public relations and traditional marketing avenues.

You will:
  • Create content, moderate social media accounts and engage with the online communities
  • Collaborate with the fundraising and campaign teams to support engagement initiatives
  • Provide insight to and implement the communications and media strategies
  • Build imprint and awareness through public relations activity with media outlets
  • Coordinate communication with the Digital Story Teller and volunteers
  • Manage the database to track supporter and donor activity

Skills Required

You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who supports climate justice, protection of country and change in the community.

It would be great if you have:
  • Experience implementing impactful communications and media strategies across traditional and social media outlets
  • Confidence working with digital platforms and tools or can pick them up quickly
  • Capability to navigate complex political and social issues and communicate them clearly and simply
  • Worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
  • Managed multiple projects with competing time demands
  • Skills or an interest in graphic design, photography or videography
  • Ability to travel throughout Australia on short notice

The Organisation

Seed is Australia's first Indigenous Youth Climate Network, building a movement led by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to protect country, culture and communities from the causes and impacts of climate change. 

Seed provide platforms for Indigenous young people to build their skills, confidence and networks to lead action on climate justice campaigns in their communities. Since launching in 2014, Seed has rapidly grown to be a powerful, national grassroots network of volunteers across the country. They elevate the voices of First Nations people to lead solutions to the climate crisis and to create change.
