The Organisation

The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established to increase understanding of child sexual abuse, promote effective ways for protecting children, guide best practice responses and pathways to healing for survivors, and reduce the harm it causes.
  
The National Centre is a joint venture between Blue Knot Foundation, The Healing Foundation, and the Australian Childhood Foundation with initial funding from the Australian Government. The three organisations have united to form an Australian-first partnership that will commission critical research, evaluate interventions and therapeutic programs, raise community awareness, reduce stigma, and provide training.
  
The National Centre will give voice to the experiences of survivors of all ages, life stages and communities. It will work in collaboration with survivors, major research institutions, representatives from state and commonwealth governments, service providers, schools, and law enforcement agencies.
  
The current director skill mix of the board includes executive leadership, social and community services, stakeholder engagement, business, and strategic and financial management experience.

The Role

Following the National Centre’s  initial successful 18 months of operating, the founding members are seeking to further supplement and grow their board capability, particularly in relation to philanthropy, corporate partnerships and fundraising as well as legal, regulatory compliance or cybersecurity.

As a board director, you will work alongside up to 8 other members with significant skills and expertise from various sectors to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and governance in line with the National Centre’s vision.

The role of each director is to individually contribute in a professional, informed and timely manner to board meetings and other activities undertaken as a director, to ensure that the board collectively fulfils its role and functions and the National Centre remains a viable and effective organisation.
  
Directors owe a fiduciary duty, in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 and common law, to the National Centre.
  
Your location: Anywhere in Australia
Your commitment: Monthly Zoom board meetings plus participation on at least one sub committee
Term: 2 years with the option of a 2nd two year term, if agreed by the board


Skills Required

You are a senior executive from either the corporate, government, legal or not-for-profit sector with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising
• Philanthropy
• Corporate partnerships and sponsorship
• Communications, marketing, advertising
• Cybersecurity and technology
• Legal or other regulatory environment

You bring alignment with the role of the organisation to drive the agenda and have capacity to devote time and energy to the position of a board director.
  
Ideally but not essential you have some experience in board governance or committee involvement together with financial literacy, stakeholder management and negotiation skills, and understanding of corporate governance principles.
