The Organization
Our client is a newly incorporated Japanese NGO working towards clean energy transition in Japan, governed and led by established and respected directors from leading international financial and legal institutions. The organization is funded by international philanthropic foundations and advocates for environmental protection by engaging with high-emission companies, investors, and industry associations to request them to fully align their emission reduction targets and business practices with the 1.5-degree Paris Agreement goal.
Using a range of strategies including stakeholder advocacy, negotiation, and advice on sustainability initiatives, our client will work with boards and the management of companies to increase understanding of climate risk and opportunities and strengthen climate governance, disclosure, reporting and transition plans. Our client will expand its activities by widening its funder-base and by expanding collaboration with other sustainability-focused expert partners and stakeholders, including leading global climate action organizations, with the vision of a swift transition of the Japanese economy to an emission-free and safe environment.

Skills Required
You have experience from the financial services or industrial sector in an outward facing, mid-management or senior level role, such as engagement, business development, partnerships, sales, planning or similar. You have a sound understanding integrity reporting and strong experience negotiating with large Japanese and multinational corporations at head office level. - Collaborate internally and with external partners to maximize engagement capacity
- Advise the legal engagement lead on finance sector intelligence
- Perform other duties as required to advance the organization’s agenda
Skills Required
You have experience from the financial services or industrial sector in an outward facing, mid-management or senior level role, such as engagement, business development, partnerships, sales, planning or similar. You have a sound understanding integrity reporting and strong experience negotiating with large Japanese and multinational corporations at head office level. Importantly, you have the strong desire to use your experience to help achieve carbon neutrality. Additionally, you can bring:
- Proven success in strategic planning to achieve agreed outcomes
- Exposure to large, listed companies in Japan; excellent relationship building skills
- High levels of collaboration, assertive style, not adverse to conflict
- Ability to work remotely and flexibly across different time-zones
- Native level Japanese, professional level English skills
