The Financial Services Unit manages the University's financial reporting, compliance functions and delivery of corporate financial services.  It supports the University with its centralised financial services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, travel, strategic procurement and payroll services.

The Role

You will manage a team of 8 Transaction Services Officers to ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the University’s billing and payment transaction cycles.  You will lift the capability and capacity of the Financial Operations team through strong team leadership and driving continuous improvement in business process design. Specifically, you will:
  • Lead the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and expense management functions of the university
  • Provide internal & external stakeholders with operational and procedural support
  • Manage end of period close processes, ensuring external audit and risk compliance
  • Contribute to improved efficiencies and best practice business processes
  • Monitor the integrity and accuracy of interfaces between billing, payment and expense systems and the finance system.
Skills Required

You will have comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and procedures and strong leadership and communication skills. With a degree level qualification in business, accounting or a related field, or relevant work experience, you must demonstrate:
  • Leadership experience within a large organisation with confidence and ability to manage and coach a team
  • Proficiency in enterprise financial systems, transactional banking systems and business process mapping and design
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and become a reliable advisor to internal and external stakeholders
  • Influencing skills to support the delivery of finance operations and process improvement initiatives within a complex environment
