The Organisation

The Women’s Legal Centre ACT, an established service with long-term secure funding, is a specialist community legal centre that offers assistance in family law, migration law, employment and discrimination law. The Centre includes a specialist program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, Mulleun Mura, and delivers services through Health Justice and community partnerships. The Centre provides legal services within a multi-disciplinary and trauma-informed practice model.

Committed to driving change, they also provide input on law and policy development to work towards deeper legal and cultural change, to redress power imbalances and address violence and gender inequality.

The Role

Reporting to the Office Manager and working within a close-knit team, this important and diverse role provides reception, administrative and corporate support, whilst also being the first point of contact for the Centre’s existing clients and stakeholders.  You will be responsible for responding to a range of inquiries from women seeking assistance, current clients, referring agencies and other key stakeholders, funding agencies and media. 

Skills Required

You have a calm, stable and professional disposition offering previous experience within reception and office administration and the ability to prioritise a range of tasks.   Your skilled administrative support services, along with process improvement and enhancement, will be highly regarded.
Additionally, you bring:
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Natural ability to remain calm when liaising with individuals that may be experiencing distress
  • Ability to multitask with well-developed organisational skills
  • Collaborative, flexible and team focused attitude
