Tara Climate is currently hosted at the European Climate Foundation, but with a plan to become an independent Asia-based regional foundation in 2022. The Role
  
Tara Climate is expanding its clean energy work in the region and the Clean Energy Policy Analyst will work closely with the country leads of Tara Climate to develop and implement strategies for philanthropic intervention to accelerate clean energy across the Tara Climate region. The programme is currently focused on supporting think tanks, business, and civil society efforts to accelerate the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures.
This exciting role will be pivotal to fostering the acceleration of clean energy to displace polluting fossil fuels in Asia.
You will:
  • Proactively scan the clean energy/efficiency landscape to update the programme team
  • Develop forward-focused analysis to inform the programme teams’ long-range strategies
  • Monitor international financing initiatives to identify opportunities to leverage
  • Conduct a full strategic review of the regional clean energy financing landscape
  • Expand partner and stakeholder networks working towards clean energy acceleration
  • Manage a regional grant-making budget and coordinate with grantees to develop proposals
  
Skills Required
  
You are an experienced energy policy strategist with outstanding networking skills and a passion for driving systemic change. The role requires a good understanding of the barriers to, and drivers of, clean energy transition, and a strong capacity to develop a multi-faceted strategy for clean energy acceleration. You are a strong networker across multiple stakeholders and cultures, including but not limited to, NGOs working on sustainable energy, think tanks, donors, and government agencies working in relevant sectors.  Additionally, you have:
  
  • Related experience from NGOs, clean energy/related companies, or financial institutions
  • A deep understanding of clean energy finance and barriers to/opportunities for acceleration
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop multi-faceted strategies to drive systemic change
  • A good grasp of clean energy and energy system transformation or other related issues
  • Experience working with philanthropic funders, bilateral or multilateral donors
  • Excellent English language skills and written and fluency in another Asian language preferred
The role is based in the region (South, Southeast, and East Asia excluding India and China). A valid residency or work permit to work and travel in the region is required.
