Tara is a new philanthropic re-granting initiative in Asia that supports a diverse group of partners to accelerate the transition to sustainable, clean energy. Tara is currently hosted at the European Climate Foundation, but with a mandate to localise in the future. The Role
  
You will lead the Vietnam clean energy transition programme and expand its work across the country. The programme focuses on supporting think tanks, business, and civil society efforts to accelerate the transition to clean, renewable energy.
Your key accountabilities will be to:
  • Lead the country programme strategy together with key partners
  • Manage a portfolio of grants across the country
  • Develop the country resources requirements, budget plans, forecasts, and reviews
  • Monitor energy policy and the economic environment
  • Build and coordinate a strong network across multiple in-country and regional stakeholders
  • Guide and advise grantees, partners, and prospective partners

Skills Required
  
You will be an experienced programme strategist with deep knowledge of, and networks within, Vietnam, including development think tanks, research centres, NGOs, and other related organisations. You understand how civil society can effectively engage government and business stakeholders to drive systemic change.
Additionally, you have:
  • 7+ year’s relevant experience in local or international organisations in Vietnam
  • A deep understanding of the political and economic context in Vietnam
  • A track record of delivering positive outcomes across national stakeholder groups
  • Strong experience interacting and networking with senior policy and decision-makers in industry, government and/or the financial sector, NGOs
  • Demonstrated understanding of how policy advocacy can create change in Vietnam.
  • The strong motivation to work autonomously to address the climate crisis
  • Professional English language skills and native level Vietnamese language skills
  • You must be based in, or be willing to relocate to Vietnam, either as a citizen or long term resident with legal permit to reside and work in the country
