The Role

As Senior Strategic Program Manager, you will independently design, lead, and deliver high-impact programs that accelerate the development and commercialization of alternative proteins in China—including plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated solutions.
Working closely with the Executive Director and ProVeg’s international teams, you’ll strengthen the organization’s presence in China’s food innovation landscape and position ProVeg as a trusted convener across government, academia, research and industry. Other key priorities are to:
  • Design and implement strategic programs that advance alternative protein innovation and commercialization
  • Foster strong relationships with central government to transform food systems
  • Develop trusted partnerships with research bodies, universities, industry associations, and food/biotech leaders
  • Represent ProVeg at high-level conferences, policy roundtables, and industry summits
  • Partner with global ProVeg teams to amplify visibility, track impact, and share success stories

Skills Required

We’re looking for a senior professional who combines technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. You will bring:
  • An academic background in food science, nutrition, biotechnology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in alternative proteins, sustainable food innovation, biotech, or food industry R&D in China
  • A strong network across central government, academia, research, and industry in China’s alt-protein field
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and coalition-building skills
  • Native-level Mandarin and fluent English (verbal and written); own China working permit
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage programs, budgets, and KPIs, and deliver measurable outcomes
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset and passion for driving food systems change
  • Experience in associations, NGOs, or public-sector programs (highly regarded)
