The Organisation
Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Inc. (VACCHO) is the peak body for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people living in Victoria and are a centre of expertise, policy advice, training, innovation and leadership.
VACCHO’s members have a proud history as sustainable, grassroots organisations that assist in building community capacity for self-determination and who provide support and services to approximately 25,000 Aboriginal people across the state.
By advocating and championing community control and health equality for Aboriginal communities, VACCHO are continually improving their cultural footprint in ensuring that each Aboriginal community has its own community-based, locally owned, culturally appropriate and adequately resourced primary health care facility.

The Role
As an integral part of the senior management team, working closely with the CEO, you will lead change management and drive operational effectiveness across VACCCHO. This will be achieved by inspirational leadership and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring all programs and services meet contractual obligations, whilst continuing to build successful sector relationships.
You will be expected to:
  • Translate strategic business planning into operational practice and lead organisational change
  • Manage the project management office and oversee the delivery of all programs and services
  • Collaborate with current and potential stakeholder groups including; member organisations, community, government, peak bodies, associations and NGO’s.
  • Manage a team of 6 and build their management capabilities through mentoring, professional development and effective communication
  • Develop operational budget and oversee financial deliverables
  • Ensure governance standards are met and manage secretariat support to the board

Skills Required
You will possess exceptional leadership skills and be familiar with program delivery models, ideally within an Aboriginal community controlled organisation or within the health, welfare or community sector. You will have sound business and commercial acumen and high level of conceptual, operational planning and analytical skills.
Together with your previous experience in a senior complex role, you are highly experienced in nurturing internal and external relationships and understanding community dynamics within a cultural sensitive setting.
Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential.
