The Organisation
  
MONSU Caulfield is the undergraduate student association at the Monash University Caulfield Campus, that exists to support students to ensure they have the best possible university experience. MONSU Caulfield strives to be a leader in student representation, ensuring student interests, welfare and issues are addressed by the university, government and the broader community.

MONSU Caulfield has an elected student council and over 9,000 student members, providing free services, programs and support, events, clubs and societies, and activities such as weekly free food and music events. With portfolios across a range of areas like women’s, welfare, queer, overseas students, people of colour and much more, MONSU Caulfield provides student representation and programs to support all students.

The Role
  
Reporting to the President, you will provide high level leadership ensuring day-to-day operations, complying with the Association’s policies and strategies.  You will be comfortable with initiating and conducting organisational change to improve MONSU’s effectiveness within the student community. Your interpersonal awareness and empathy will further ensure high-quality services to the students.  Key aspects of the role include:
  • Overseeing compliance, and meeting legal and legislative requirements including those required by Monash University
  • Budget and audit, overseeing payroll and facilitating funding agreements
  • HR including recruitment, training, mentoring and performance management of staff
  • Fostering communication channels between staff and student representatives
  • Supporting initiatives and cultivating student-focussed objectives

Skills Required

You’re an experienced professional with demonstrated ability to work effectively with committees and with people with diverse backgrounds and cultures. Ideally, you’re able to offer the following;  
  • Postgraduate qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with stakeholders and management
  • Experience or understanding of tertiary sector legislation, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of student organisations, committees or not-for-profit groups
