The Organisation
Blue Knot Foundation (BKF) is the National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma, empowering recovery and building resilience for adults impacted by complex trauma.   
With funding from the Department of Social Services, BKF is operating the National Counselling and Referral Service for people affected by the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.  This is a unique opportunity to play a part in significant social change.
The service will operate seven days a week and will provide counselling, support and referral services to people impacted by the Royal Commission (RC), including survivors, guardians, family members, carers, advocates and other people affected by the RC.

The Role
This position ensures the smooth delivery of a person-centred, effective and efficient clinical counselling and referral service for people who are engaging with or affected by the Disability Royal Commission. 
The counselling and referral serviceoffers trauma-informed, disability and culturally aware counselling, support, information and referrals to callers from around Australia. 
Additionally you will support the day-to-day development, operation and reporting of BKF programs, resources, quality frameworks, recruiting and induction of new staff.  Specifically you will:
  • Ensure service delivery meets the needs of service users within agreed model & budget
  • Monitor, coordinate and oversee the counselling team to meet QA standards
  • Facilitate the engagement of senior counsellors in the operations of the program
  • Provide individual and team supervision and coaching
  • Develop, document, implement and manage resources to support staff to deliver services
  • Implement best practice clinical protocols in working with complex trauma and disability
  • Support needs of all counsellors to ensure a creative and agile team
  • Attend to self-care by attending professional development and regular supervision
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders to enhance program delivery
This role will require some direct clinical work during peak demand times.

Skills Required
You have a background leading clinical teams and the delivery of clinical services including staff recruitment, induction and development, accreditation and compliance, developing clinical systems, frameworks and protocols to meet standards and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
You are flexible and creative in your approach and can work in a fast paced, pressured environment, with fluctuating demands and meet the unique demands arising from the DRC and around callers’ needs.  Additionally you have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:
  • Current membership or eligibility to a relevant professional body
  • Bachelor’s degree in counselling, social work or psychology
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with clinical teams
  • Proven ability to monitor and enhance individual and team person-centred practice
  • Background in working with the dynamics and impacts of trauma
  • Familiarity with providing clinical supervision to practitioners
  • An understanding of and capacity to train in QA processes around data capture
  • Skill in risk assessment and management and crisis intervention
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and human rights
  • Availability and willingness to work flexibly between the hours of 8.30am and 6pm
  • Ability to supervise work with technology based modalities including telephone counselling, video conferencing, online chat services, and sms services.
  • Technological capability to work with a variety of technology based operational tools such as Sales Force databases, Natterbox telephony systems and on line rostering and people management systems.
  • Full time role (7.6 hours/day between 8.30am and 6pm, Monday to Friday) with flexibility to change hours according to team needs, plus some debriefing shifts on the weekends (on call from home)
