The Role
You will develop the overarching strategy to support a shift in Chinese energy finance from fossil fuels to renewable energy. You will analyze the role financiers, investors, insurers and regulators play in financing projects whilst monitoring policy trends and financial flows. You will work with your international colleagues and partners to shift banks, investors, insurers and central banks away from fossil fuels and advise how to influence Chinese investors and financiers.
Managing the China program associate, external consultants and advisers, you will also partner with civil society, in China and internationally, including by mobilizing and where appropriate re-granting financial resources. You will develop and implement communication strategies about the impacts of Chinese investment in energy projects, and trends in international finance, particularly the transition of institutions away from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Skills Required
You are an experienced strategist in international advocacy with a sophisticated understanding of China’s political culture, the socio-economic system and climate or energy sector. If you are not already, and with our support, you will quickly become an expert in the finance sector.
You have coordinated international coalitions for social and/or environmental real world change via practical interventions and an understanding of how change happens in business.  You have excellent collaboration and facilitation skills including the ability to work effectively with allies from diverse backgrounds. You’re also willing to work flexible hours and travel internationally.
You need to be a natural collaborator, a strong facilitator and have a global perspective to be able to digest complex, technical subjects presenting them in engaging language to non-expert audiences. Of course you are passionate about addressing climate change, a creative thinker with bold ideas about how we can achieve the change we need.
