- Protect rivers, forests, people & wildlife via leading national environmental group
- Lead and coach a highly disciplined national team
The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is Australia’s national environment organisation, independent, non-partisan and funded by donations from over 400,000 members of the Australian community.
Via a number of high profile campaigns that weave local efforts with national solutions ACF diagnoses and treats the root causes of environmental problems, protecting the web of life from the Kimberley to the Reef down the Great Dividing Range to Tasmania’s forests.
ACF brings together people from community, government and business holding decision makers to account and confronting structural challenges that stand in the way of change, the laws, policies, institutions, decisions and practices, creating a system that does right by people and nature.
ACF stands with the nation’s traditional owners to care for country.
This newly created role will lead the development and implementation of nature protection campaigns based on ACF’s change strategy and integrates advocacy, supporter organising and engagement and public communication.
You will lead a national team including a nature policy analyst and three nature campaigners that design and implement campaigns that address the systemic drivers of species extinction, habitat loss, fragmentation, over-exploitation and ineffective management.
Addressing these systemic drivers will require strategic collaborations with traditional owners to advance culturally appropriate conservation and economic development. The program integrates work previously done in ACF’s Northern Australia and Healthy Ecosystems Programs.
Internal collaboration with the Climate & Energy and Community Organising programs, and Engagement Directorate critical to achieving outcomes consistent with each element of ACF’s theory of change. Collaboration with stakeholders from the environment movement, Indigenous, business, agriculture, union and community sectors are critical components of this role.
You are currently in a senior leadership role within a broad range of either Australian or international campaign or social change organisations.
You have highly developed skills in the development of campaign strategy including conceptual, analytical, planning, execution and evaluation.
Essentially you have the capacity and maturity to grow, lead and develop a team. You also have advanced interpersonal skills and are able to demonstrate experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with community, donors, business and political leaders.
